Water is Life—Why Access to Clean Water is a Right, Not a Privilege

water and hygiene

Imagine waking up each morning knowing your first task is to walk five kilometers just to fetch a few litres of water—often from a muddy stream shared with livestock. For many children and women in Kenya’s marginalized communities, this is not imagination; it’s daily reality.

At Child For Future Community (C.F.F.C.), we believe that access to clean, safe water is not a luxury—it is a fundamental human right. Lack of clean water affects every aspect of life: health, education, and economic opportunity.

When children spend hours fetching water, they miss school. When water sources are contaminated, entire communities face the threat of cholera, typhoid, and other waterborne illnesses. When girls lack access to clean water, they face additional health and safety risks, especially during menstruation.

Our WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) initiative is designed to change this narrative. We install water storage tanks in schools and communities, train families on hygiene practices, and advocate for improved sanitation systems.

Looking ahead, we aim to construct sand dams and boreholes—sustainable solutions that ensure water availability even during dry seasons. These interventions reduce the burden on families, especially women and children, allowing them to focus on education and economic productivity.

Access to water restores dignity. It brings safety, improves health, and reclaims time for learning and living. It is a catalyst for community transformation.

But we can’t do it alone. We need partners, supporters, and advocates. With your help, we can expand our reach, deepen our impact, and ensure that no child has to choose between thirst and school.

Donate today. Help us deliver life through water. Because clean water should be a promise, not a privilege.
